Cubs get hot, but not out of this alive

WASHINGTON — The Chicago Cubs beat the Cleveland Indians 6-3 Sunday in the series finale at Wrigley Field.

The Cubs were able to hold on for a 3-2 victory in Game 5, despite allowing the Indians to score seven runs over six innings.

Cubs manager Joe Maddon said the team is looking ahead to a showdown against the New York Mets in the National League Division Series.

The Cubs are in second place in the NL Central, three games back of the Milwaukee Brewers and six ahead of the Colorado Rockies.

The Milwaukee Brewers are three games ahead of Colorado, while the Rockies are one game ahead of Chicago.

Cubs right fielder Kyle Schwarber scored twice, while Mike Napoli had a pair of RBI singles.

The Cubs went 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position.

The Indians won for the second straight game, defeating the Washington Nationals 7-5 on Saturday.

The two teams will meet again on Sunday in Wrigleys next scheduled game.
